Program Overview
This program is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in medical terminology, medical systems and procedures, patient safety, and office management. Students will be eligible for post-program certification exams, such as the Certified Medical Assistant credential from the National Center for Competency Testing, and may continue their education by seeking a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration.

Program Curriculum & Length
The curriculum is designed to help develop foundational knowledge in front office management, medical terminology, and patient safety. In addition to a Clinical Externship that can be completed at a location near you, listed below are some of the courses offered to students:
- Medical Terminology
- Introduction to Medical Coding & Billing
- Medical Systems & Procedures
- Medical Ethics & Legal Considerations
Program length differs depending on how many credits students choose to take per term. On average, students complete the 62 credits required for the online associate in medical assisting degree in two years.

- Community and Technical College Graduate Scholarship – Online students who transfer to Point from a community or technical college are eligible to receive a $250 scholarship specifically for transfer students. No application is required.
